I will try again! I have been taking Arimidex since May 2009. I have had more hot flashes than I ever had before. My body ached all the time when I started the drug. I found staying active and trying to walk for 30 minutes each day helped a lot. I have gotten used to the drug now, but can tell when I haven't exercised. I will continue to take it for the next two years. Best wishes to you.

Nancy, I have had the same experience as you. I have had bone and joint pain, along with hot flashes, since I started Arimidex in October 2011. I find exercise really does help - for me, I try to do at least 30 minutes of yoga or walking every day. If I don't do that, I notice more stiffness. I really don't like this drug, but hopefully it's working so I will not complain!

Hi Susan. My Mother was diagnosed in March of 2009. After a lumpectomy, although the cancer itself was removed, following pathology, her surgeon wanted to go in again to take out additional surrounding tissue in order to have "safer margins" around the affected area. She chose, instead, to have a mastectomy. Also, she refused the suggestion of chemo and radiation. She began arimedix and was told she would need to continue for 5 years. Her most prevalent "side effect" was an overall decrease in body temperature, as well as some overall achiness. She discontinued taking it last October (2011), when she was diagnosed with stage 4 laryngeal cancer.
