Nancy,
We have catastrophic type insurance which is the only type we can afford. The premiums are high and so are the deductables. My MRI's are never covered but when I present my insurance card, I am only billed what the insurance allows and the office accepts this much lower amount. It is about $1300 which I pay off in installments. TALK to the office.... see if they will accept a lower amount.... as in what an insurance company would allow. For an MRI, you can also shop around. Hopefully, you live in a large enough area where there is more than one MRI place. It wouldn't be any different in the MRI but you could find a better deal from another office. Don't be afraid to shop, ask for a lower price, and also to pay it off in installments. It's time to start fighting for your health. Hang in there.... take care, Sharon

thanks Sharon. I live out in the West Texas desert....it is beautiful here in Alpine, but medical care stinks. I am trying to find someone in Midland/Odessa to let me pay half the amount and then pay off. No one out here is going to want less...
thanks Sharon. I live out in the West Texas desert....it is beautiful here in Alpine, but medical care stinks. I am trying to find someone in Midland/Odessa to let me pay half the amount and then pay off. No one out here is going to want less than $2300--we are at the end of the chain out here. I might have to check out San Antonio or Austin. Will let you know. Again Sharon, thanks for your concern !!!!!!
