Breast cancer IS just plain bad! I was 2A and after my surgery was downgraded to a 2B because I had one lymph node positive. It is better if you don't have any lymph node involvement but you deal with what you have. Not knowing any more about your breast cancer except stage and grade,(type) 2A has you far from the end of your rope. Your surgeon and/or oncologist will go over all of your tests before you go on to the next part of your treatment. You are at a very treatable stage so you will be ok. Hang in there and take care, Sharon

I was absolutely despondent after my first lumpectomy because the surgeon didn't get clean margins -- then it happened again (another lumpectomy without clean margins). I finally had a mastectomy w/ immediate tissue expander reconstruction. I thought I must have the worst case of breastcancm

Sorry, pressed post too soon! Anyway, I thought I had the worst case the modern world had ever seen. Even after 2 lumpectomies and a mastectomy, though, it turned out I was still stage 1. I know many women, myself included, who have gone through multiple surgeries and although it's a nightmare, the surgical part will soon be over and you can move forward with treatment. May you have a speedy recovery and a long, happy an healthy life after all this is done!!
0I had lumpectomy then a second to clean up margins by the everything was done I was stage III ER no nodes. Mentally and emotionaly I was a wreck. I'm not a stupid person but I just get my head wrapped around everything. Everyday more life changing decisions to make. I had to make decisions about issues I didn't think I had full understanding. Looking back I think it was denial. Breast cancer is a very bumpy road and so indivdual I finely figured out to trust my doctors/nurses/trusted and my good judgement.

Thank you, Sharon. I was just upset about the whole thing. I went in for the initial Surgery thinking I was Stage 1 Grade 2 no lymph node involvement. As I am Estrogen and Progesterone positive still waiting for Her2 results. They initially thought radiation and hormone therapy would be enough. Now it definitely has to be treated with Chemo.

Wow this sounds like my story! I don't even know about Her2 stuff? Find all that out on Monday. Found cancer in the 1 lymph node. Stage 2. They did a second surgery and marines are now clear. I almost fell off my chair when my Dr told me I was going for chemo just last week. I was told 6 weeks ago it would be radiation only. As long as they do the job the first time, I'm okay with that. All the news will be delivered on Monday for me.
