A Breast Self-Exam is recommended monthly. At first you won't think you know what you are feeling for, but once you become familiar with the lumps & bumps naturally in your breast that are unique to you, then you will be in a position to notice a change.

Once a month, that is how I noticed a lump which turned out to be cancer
2I would suggest once a month as well. Self exams are so important! I found my lump which turned out to be stage III invasive ductal cancer. My mammogram missed my cancer 5 months prior to me finding the lump. Mammos ate great but not foolproof unfortunately. I have spoken to so many women that have had the same experience. Take care of yourself. :)

You should do this monthly. It's suggested to perform it in the shower about a week after your period. Your breasts are in the best condition to find lumps at this time.

I'm a current med student; to my knowledge self check should be performed monthly 1-2 weeks after your menstruation .
0Since I've found the first lump and have to undergo chemo. I check myself daily to safe than sorry. This doesnt hurt to check this way you can be aware of your body and going on.

Once a month 7 days after your period
