I agree a positive attitude is the best weapon to fight cancer. I was diagnosed in October 2011 with IDC and DCIS in the left breast. My oncologist staged me at a 1a based on all the results. I am HER2 , with positive estrogren/progestrine receptors, which is the reason I am having to take 18 weeks of TCH, with a year of herceptin after I'm done with the 18 initial treatments, after which I will be placed on tamoxifen for up to five years. Overall chemo has been fairly easy. I just finished my 2nd cycle and by the grace of god I have not experienced many side effects. I am having hair loss and really that is the only major side effect so far. So keep your faith and remain positive, and I wish you the very best on your journey to beat this monster!!
2No, it's not painful. It does have side effects though. And the side effects vary depending on your particular chemo drugs. For example....adriamyicin/Cytoxin can cause nausea, hair loss, fatigue, etc. they have great medications now to help with the side effects. Chemo is doable and certainly with having in your cancer battle. Best wishes to you on your journey to wellness.
1To answer your question about chemo. Chemotherapy is not painful but there are some major side effects depending on the type of cancer and what medications your oncologist put you on. I was diagnosed with inductal carcinoma. My lump was small but aggressive i was tripple negative so this means my cancer was aggressive. So i had to be put on three types of chemotherapy and the first two meds i called the sisters they were powerful treatments and would cause me discomfort for the first four but them after i finished them i started taxol this chemo was much better. I have to have 16 treatments i am half way done now then radiation. The oncologist suggested a port for me this is the way i get my treatments now i have an auntie who also was diagnosed with breast cancer and she was not given a port. If you can get a port this is the best way to get chemo. There is no pain just major different side effects but you have to stay focused and think strong and possitive at all times. Best luck to you!
