Had 35 radiation treatments & went back for a mammo in Jan 2013 & it showed a spot of micro calcification near the incision area. Not sure if cancerous Dr will do another mammo in 3 months and if it is cancerous I'm going for a double mastectomy with reconstruction @ time of surgery. I dont want to keep having surgeries. I'm currently taking tamoxifen as well. Started it 4 months ago.

However, they did find DCIS in the remaining tissue so I had to have a mastectomy. If your doctor found the DCIS and got clear margins, that's great. My surgeon didn't think she could get more tissue out without deforming the breast (which was small!) so I went ahead with mastectomy.

Learning About Breast CancerMine did not show on the mammogram. You have to get a biopsy to be 100% sure.

Stage 1 Patient
Hi Becky, there is probably no harm in trying it. I started with the ultra low dose for my hot flashes and I still have them but not nearly as often. I hope you will have success, let us know how you are doing.
Comment 1Works for me (when I remember to take it lol)

A call to the ACLU might not hurt- discrimination against women and the disabled. Sounds like he thinks major networks might give him a pass.

Since 10/25/2012 I have been participating in a cancer recovery program at the Central Bucks YMCA in Doylestown PA called Thrive. This program included strength training, increased flexibility, cardio, weight training, nutrition education , yoga, mat Pilates , mediation, and community support, along with private trainers and counselors. Introduction to may different classes offered at the Y as well as a free membership for the last 3 months for my family. The Thrive program is free. It was the most wonderful experience , everyone in the group has had cancer and are in different stages of treatments and we all support each other. Even 2 of the personal trainers were bc survivors. My YMCA got involved because of The Live Strong Organization was sending out seed money to start cancer recovery programs. My Ymca did not win the seed money but decided to start there own program called Thrive. My point is that there may be lots of these programs out there at local Ymca,s some supported by the Live Strong Foundation or doing it themselves like my YMCA . Call your local Y and find out. This program has helped me mind, body, and soul . I have now joined the YMCA and have many new friends. Everyone works at there own pace, and we all increased in each one of the goals which we personally set at the beginning. Give it a try it will make you feel like your old self. Good Luck
Colleen,
That sounds wonderful! I WISH..... but I live on an island. Thanks for sharing. Take care, Sharon
